Meta launches 'Vibes,' a new short-video feed of AI-generated content nobody asked for

Have you ever thought how exciting it would be to scroll through an entire feed of AI-generated video slop? If so, you’re in luck, because that’s exactly what Meta had in mind with the launch of “Vibes,” the latest big new feature for the Meta AI app. Vibes is basically a new video feed like TikTok or Instagram Reels but only shows AI-created videos. Users can generate clips from scratch or remix others by tweaking visuals, layering music, or changing animation styles. Each post displays the text prompt that produced it, and the feed is accessible from both mobile and desktop.

The interface mirrors Reels with options to Like, Remix, Comment, Share, or rate a video as 'Good' or 'Bad.' While direct search for creators is not yet available, their profiles can be opened from posted videos. Clips can be shared within Vibes, sent via direct messages, or cross-posted to Instagram and Facebook Stories and Reels. For its early version, Meta partnered with Midjourney and Black Forest Labs, while continuing to work on its own AI models.

The company says the feed will grow more personalized as people watch and create videos, though early reception has been largely negative, with users mocking the launch as “AI slop” and questioning who this feature is really for or why it exists at all. This only adds to the broader negative perception of the Meta AI app as a kind of Frankenstein social platform, following earlier backlash over exposed chatbot conversations that revealed personal data such as home addresses, IDs, banking information or even crime confesions, you name it.
