Bing Video Creator adds free AI video generation via Sora to its mobile app

Microsoft has introduced Bing Video Creator, integrating AI-driven video generation directly into the Bing mobile app. The tool leverages OpenAI’s Sora, a text-to-video model previously reserved for ChatGPT Plus subscribers, and makes it available to all users without requiring a subscription. While the feature is rolling out globally, it is not available in China or Russia.

Currently, users on Android and iOS devices can access Bing Video Creator from the bottom-right menu or by entering a video description in the Bing search bar. Support for desktop and Copilot Search will be added soon. Users can queue up to three video generations at a time and are notified when videos are ready. Two creation speed options exist: Standard, which is free for everyone, and Fast, which completes in seconds. The first ten Fast generations are included free of charge, after which each additional Fast generation requires 100 Microsoft Rewards points.

Videos generated are 5 seconds long in a 9:16 vertical format and are stored in the Bing app for up to 90 days. Downloading and external sharing are supported. While 16:9 horizontal video format is planned for future updates, the release coincides with increased competition in the AI video space, most notably the arrival of Google’s Veo 3, which offers more advanced output than Sora.
