Huawei launches HarmonyOS for PCs to rival Windows and macOS in the desktop market
Huawei has formally introduced HarmonyOS PC, its own desktop operating system, at the HarmonyOS Computer Technology and Ecosystem Communication Event. HarmonyOS PC aims to position itself as a direct competitor to Windows 11 and macOS, with a clear focus on reducing reliance on Western technology platforms.
The operating system is structured around three main pillars. HarmonyOS Base includes the HarmonyOS kernel, delivering the foundation for the system alongside the Ark Engine, which targets improved graphics and user interface performance. Security is addressed through the StarShield architecture. Building on this architecture, the HarmonyOS Ecosystem launches with more than 150 exclusive applications and support for over 2,000 ecosystem apps, such as WPS Office and DingTalk. The OS can also natively run thousands of HarmonyOS mobile applications, expanding software options for users transitioning to the new platform.
HarmonyOS Experience ensures compatibility with over 1,000 external devices—including 800 standard peripherals and at least 200 additional device categories such as printers and scanners. The user interface features a centered dock bar at the bottom of the display, reminiscent of macOS, though full UI details are not yet public. Huawei also highlighted deep integration of artificial intelligence but has not yet revealed specific AI-driven features. HarmonyOS PC will be officially released on May 19.

That CCP spyware is more than mildly promising! His majesty Dork Maga never dissed China, which means Elon's disciples can fully trust the CCP, and their social credit system is pretty savvy and anti-woke👍
Hey Azazel, seek help for that Trump Derangement Syndrome and Elon Derangement Syndrome. Seriously. They take up so much free rent space in your small mind that there apparently isn't much room for anything else.
Okay, it's an OS made by Huawei and many of us may not trust anything from that country. But the technical side of me is interested knowing that there's growing competition against the top 2 (Win & Mac). I'm still a *nix fan.
