GitLab 17.11 adds Custom Compliance Frameworks, new Duo AI features, and more
GitLab 17.11 brings major updates in compliance and AI. It introduces Custom Compliance Frameworks and expands built-in controls from 5 to over 50, supporting standards like SOC2, NIST, and ISO 27001. Controls can map to internal and external requirements, with a revamped adherence report for better tracking.
A new Eclipse plugin (beta) integrates Duo Chat and AI suggestions, while more GitLab Duo features are now available for self-hosted users. The Web IDE now supports an extension marketplace with Open VSX and custom registry options. Security is enhanced with protected container tags using regex rules and support for protected Maven packages. New custom fields for issues, epics, and tasks improve metadata handling, and the updated issue view offers a streamlined UI with real-time updates.
Other additions include a Service Accounts UI, automated Duo seat assignment via SAML, and safer CI/CD pipeline inputs. The release includes over 60 improvements across compliance, DevOps, and AI.
