Zorin OS 17.3 launches with Brave as default web browser, NVIDIA 570 drivers, and more

Zorin OS has released version 17.3, leveraging the Linux kernel 6.8 from Ubuntu 24.04 LTS “Noble Numbat”. This update introduces several improvements across the system, including an expanded built-in database that now detects installer files for over 150 popular Windows apps, offering tailored alternatives to sideloading their executables.

Brave has been introduced as the default web browser with custom settings, replacing Firefox due to privacy concerns related to Mozilla's recent policy changes. Zorin Connect, a fork of KDE Connect, has received an upgrade with a redesigned interface, a new gyroscope mouse option, and other quality-of-life enhancements.

Touchscreen device users will benefit from system-wide enhancements and fixes, particularly in the taskbar and Zorin Appearance's touch layout. The release also updates many pre-installed apps for a more feature-rich experience, and includes updated system technologies and hardware drivers for improved compatibility and performance. Notably, it features the latest NVIDIA 570 drivers, supporting the newest NVIDIA RTX 5000 series graphics cards. Additionally, this version incorporates the latest security patches, as well as other enhancements and bug fixes.
