Opera One launches AI-powered tab commands via Aria

After being announced in October 2024 and undergoing months of testing, Opera One has publicly launched its new feature, Tab Commands, which enables users to manage browser tabs using natural language commands via Aria, the built-in AI.

This feature allows users to close, group, or pin tabs by simply instructing Aria through a Command Line shortcut or the AI Tab Management option in the right-click menu when five or more tabs are open. Designed to assist users who hoard tabs, Aria can organize browsing sessions by grouping similar tabs into Tab Islands and processes commands locally. Tab Commands can handle specific scenarios, such as closing inactive tabs and saving groups of tabs as bookmarks, making Opera One the first browser to incorporate an AI-driven tab management system.

Additionally, Opera GX and Opera Air are receiving AI upgrades, including Writing Mode 2.0 for drafting text in input fields and enhanced multitasking capabilities with Split Screen and Tab Islands for Aria chats. Aria’s response quality has also been improved for various categories.
