YouTube expands communities feature to more creators, now accessible on mobile devices
YouTube is broadening its Communities feature, which was first introduced last fall, to include more creators, now accessible on mobile devices. This feature provides a dedicated space for creators to interact with their fans, allowing them to write posts, share images, and engage in discussions, without needing to rely on external platforms like Discord. The expansion comes after positive feedback from an initial group of testers, highlighting the feature's ability to foster greater interaction between creators and their audiences.
Creators can manage and moderate their Communities through the YouTube Studio app, which includes tools for monitoring channel activity and suggesting replies to fans. The existing YouTube Community tab will be renamed "Posts" to distinguish it from the new feature while continuing to serve as a space for updates and announcements.
Access to Communities is invitation-only, with notifications sent via email and a banner on the creator's YouTube channel page. Invited creators can activate the feature by clicking “Go to Community” to learn more.
