ONLYOFFICE Docs 8.3 launches with iWork & Hancom support, PDF stamps, Merge Shapes & more

ONLYOFFICE Docs 8.3 introduces expanded file format support, allowing users to open Apple iWork ( Pages, Keynote, Numbers) and Hancom Office (.hwp, .hwpx) files while maintaining their formatting. However, editing these files requires conversion to OOXML formats (DOCX, PPTX, XLSX), which may lead to minor formatting changes.

The update enhances RTL (Right-to-Left) support, enabling users to adjust sheet directions in spreadsheets and switch paragraph directions in text documents. The embedded viewer now fully supports RTL languages, enhancing global accessibility.

New features in the PDF Editor include professional stamp additions, improved real-time co-editing with an undo function, multiselect for page management, quick annotation editing, and opacity control for highlights. In spreadsheets, users can benefit from automatic updates for external links, new autofill options for dates, an improved function wizard with argument descriptions, and enhanced pivot table support. Presentation tools see the addition of a "Design" tab for style adjustments, the ability to draw on slideshows, the option to rename Slide Masters, and a merge shapes feature for custom visuals.

For anyone wondering, Hancom Office is the preferred office suite in South Korea, where people rarely if ever use MS Word. So it's nice to have an open-source way to work with these files.
