Kagi Search updates AI assistant with Claude 3.7 Sonnet and adds filter for TikTok videos

Kagi Search has rolled out an update enhancing its search engine and AI assistant. The update introduces a more intuitive interface for the Kagi AI assistant, now powered by the Claude 3.7 Sonnet model. This model also enhances Kagi's !code assistant and supports Ki, an advanced multistep reasoning model still in early testing phases.

Additionally, video search capabilities have been refined, allowing users to filter specifically for TikTok videos alongside existing options like YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, and others. The update also includes improvements to Kagi Translate, positioning it as a stronger competitor to established services such as Google Translate and DeepL.

I really do not want to pay for Kagi search, but it has been fascinating to see them grow. Curious if it will evolve into a product I actually want to use.

I would do it, but $10/month is pretty steep. They seem to think their private AI/LLM and summarizing features will add features making it worthwhile but all of those things are free out there too. If you're on Apple they're already on your device. I can see maybe $5/month which they do have a plan for but I'd hit that 300 limit within a week. I'd rather they just let me do unlimited searches for $5/month and forget all the garbage bells and whistles.

For sure, friend. In full disclosure, I pay for Perplexity Pro ($16 month after annual upfront cost) and that seems to tick all my boxes (advanced reasoning models, and effective web search queries). I incredibly respect their core mission, but you're right, that's quite a bit for the average person for the limited scope of options.
