Microsoft Edge expands Copilot integration with Actions, Journeys & browser history access
Following the recent news about Windows' new AI Companion and other Microsoft Copilot updates in Windows 11, the company has also introduced new features in Microsoft Edge’s new Copilot Mode focused on automation through the addition of Copilot Actions, allowing users to perform multi-step tasks such as unsubscribing from newsletters or booking restaurant reservations directly within the browser.
There's a new Copilot Journeys feature that lets users save and return to ongoing research projects without relying on bookmarks. It can summarize previously read articles, suggest next steps, and bring back relevant resources, helping users continue projects without having to search again for the tabs or sites they previously visited.
Additionally, users now have the option to grant Copilot permission to access their browsing history, enabling more contextual interactions such as discussing previously viewed products or recommending movies based on past activity. Edge displays clear visual indicators when Copilot is active, and Microsoft states that all data is managed under its privacy policy.
The updated Copilot Mode is available for free in a limited preview in the US for now.

SO we got rid of recall that snapshots our privacy content for a "rollback on demand" and now we get "journey" in edge, making the exact same thing in the browser ? Also "directly booking restaurants in the browser" means we have copilot accessing bank account data, privacy data, calendar, localization and nobody knows what data is extracted on the cloud servers "for learning purposes" of the LLM ? And thats considered as a feature ? Really ? The only "feature" I can see in this agressive "let's integrate AI everywhere to acces all the data of everyone ASAP" is that I feel less bad having switched to Linux a long while ago. I mean - people. Come on, get this. See what AI is asking you of data and personal infos ? For .... comfort ? We took years of "don't use the same password for your data" and now we "connect AI Agents" to everything cross-posted so Data gets unified ? What if ONE of those services gets hacked ? Or we know Donny loves Vladi ? How about some "leaks" here and there ? I dont' know... this feels bad in my gut. Not enough regulating and laws exist for AI and their data Exchange and still it's everywhere already. I hope this ends well. Somehow. :S
