Microsoft introduces 'Copilot Actions' for AI-automated tasks in Microsoft 365

Microsoft has unveiled Copilot Actions, an AI-powered feature for Microsoft Copilot aimed at automating repetitive tasks within Microsoft 365, currently in private preview. This tool is designed to streamline workflows by taking over tasks such as meeting summaries, report generation, and preparation, functioning similarly to an AI-powered macro. Users can define and automate these tasks autonomously across various Microsoft 365 applications.

In addition to Copilot Actions, Microsoft PowerPoint will soon include a translation feature for entire presentations in over 40 languages, expected by early 2024. The updated Narrative Builder will incorporate branded templates, speaker notes, and animations for more polished drafts. Microsoft Excel users will enjoy a new start experience with suggested templates, headers, formulas, and visuals, while Outlook's Copilot will aid in scheduling 1:1 meetings and creating agendas.

Microsoft SharePoint will also introduce AI agents for document summarization and data queries, contributing to Microsoft's broader efforts to promote Copilot Agents for automating routine tasks in business applications.
