xAI launches standalone Grok chatbot iOS app in the US

Elon Musk's AI-focused company, xAI, has launched the Grok AI chatbot as a standalone iOS app in the United States, currently available in beta. Previously integrated within the X app and website, Grok now offers its functionalities independently. These include real-time data retrieval, user query responses, and text-to-image generation.

As it stands, the app is only available for iOS, with no Android version announced. This move places Grok in competition with other prominent chatbots like OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude, Google Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot. It is worth mentioning that Grok, which was initially available only to X Premium subscribers, has since transitioned to a freemium model, becoming accessible to all X users after its testing phase in select countries last December.

A Grok.com website is also in development, suggesting future web-based access.
