Visual Studio Code 1.93 update brings centralized profiles, enhanced GitHub Copilot & more

Visual Studio Code has released its August update, version 1.93, among whose new features are a centralized Profiles editor for managing profiles, Django unit test support in the Python extension, and IntelliSense for JavaScript and TypeScript on vscode.dev.

The Notebook diff viewer allows collapsing unchanged cells, keyboard column resizing improves accessibility, and the Source Control Graph View now enables hiding, collapsing, or moving the graph, reducing information load in the main panel. Significant improvements have also been made to GitHub Copilot, including better test generation, enhanced inline chat, and experimental custom code-generation instructions. Users can now access and rename previous chat sessions, with entries organized by date.

The platform is also progressing towards full ECMAScript Modules (ESM) adoption, with ESM-enabled Insider builds expected in September 2024 and a Stable release by October 2024, replacing AMD loading.
