TikTok expands subscription feature to boost creator monetization through fan support
TikTok has launched its redesigned "Subscription" monetization feature for eligible creators in select regions, including Brazil, France, Germany, Spain, the U.K., Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and the U.S. This rollout follows the platform's previously announced plan to rebrand its LIVE Subscription tool and expand it to creators beyond live content.
The Subscription feature allows creators to monetize their content similarly to platforms like Patreon or YouTube channel memberships. With this feature, creators can offer paying subscribers access to exclusive content and perks across three subscription tiers at different price points. Exclusive content for subscribers includes special videos, live streams, and unique notes, along with interactive perks like "Sub Space," an exclusive communication channel for direct interaction with creators, exclusive stickers, and special badges.
Creators can customize perks tailored to their audience, choosing from options such as performance requests, shout-outs, behind-the-scenes content, and gaming sessions. TikTok plans to expand this feature to additional markets in the coming weeks, broadening access for creators globally.
