Proton open sources all Proton Drive apps to enhance transparency and privacy
Proton has made all its Proton Drive apps open source, including desktop versions for Windows and macOS, and mobile apps for iOS and Android. This decision emphasizes Proton’s commitment to transparency and privacy, allowing users to examine and verify the functionality and data handling of their applications.

This initiative aligns with Proton's belief that privacy should be verifiable, not based on blind trust. Open sourcing the apps facilitates collaboration with the security community, helping identify and resolve potential vulnerabilities more quickly. Proton also supports open-source projects through initiatives like the Lifetime Account Charity Fundraiser, backing projects such as WireGuard, Qubes OS, and Tails.
