YouTube is currently testing its Community Notes feature among a select group of users

YouTube is currently testing a community notes feature aimed at correcting inaccurate or unclear information in video content, similar to how Community Notes function on X/Twitter. This feature, first announced in June, is in a selective rollout phase with invitations being sent to a limited group of users to join the pilot program. Screenshots of these official invitations are circulating on social media, indicating the gradual deployment of the feature.

The community notes feature allows viewers to submit short blurbs that either provide additional context or correct misinformation in videos. This rollout is particularly significant as it comes ahead of the US presidential election, potentially playing a crucial role in mitigating misinformation during this period.

Although there is no confirmed launch date for the feature, YouTube has added instructions for writing and submitting notes to its Help database. The pilot program is currently limited to English-speaking users in the US and is accessible only on mobile devices. Participants are being invited through emails or their Creator Studios accounts and will provide feedback on the notes' helpfulness to help refine the feature before its public release.
