OpenProject 14.4 adds dark mode, enhanced permissions, and improved progress tracking
OpenProject 14.4 has been released, introducing several new features and improvements, including the addition of a Dark Mode, which users can activate to reduce eye strain in low-light environments. This feature is customizable on a per-user basis and can be accessed through the Settings under My account.
The update also refines permissions management by dividing them into “view” and “edit” rights for project attributes. This change allows for more precise control over user actions, with default settings granting 'view' permissions to all roles and 'edit' permissions limited to roles with 'edit project' rights. Additionally, status-based progress reporting has been improved, enabling users to input exact percentage values for task completion, rather than the previous 10% increments, for more accurate progress tracking.
Other notable enhancements include a new button for administrators to manually test and validate their Nextcloud storage configuration, providing detailed feedback on any issues. The update also brings more filter options for project lists, streamlined agenda creation in Meetings, chronological display of related meetings, quicker access to the “Copy link to clipboard” option, and improved avatar color generation for better user recognition.
