Google Meet introduces AI-Powered auto note-taking feature

Google Meet has launched a new AI-powered feature called "Take notes for me" to help users stay focused during meetings by automatically taking notes. Part of the AI Meetings and Messaging add-on for Google Workspace this feature costs $10 per user per month and is available to customers with Google Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or AI Meetings and Messaging add-on accounts.

The AI captures key discussion points in real-time and generates a summary at the end of the meeting, which is then sent to the meeting owner for distribution. The notes are stored in the meeting owner's Google Drive folder, adhering to document retention policies.

System administrators can control the AI note-taking feature via the admin console, and Google recommends initially turning it off for a simultaneous rollout before re-enabling it. The rollout started on August 13 and is expected to be completed by August 21, aiming to foster a more productive and interactive meeting environment by automating note-taking.
