GNOME 46.4 Released with improved WPA2 enterprise network security and more
The GNOME project has released GNOME 46.4, the fourth maintenance update in the GNOME 46 "Kathmandu" desktop environment series, bringing numerous enhancements and bug fixes. This update improves connectivity and security for WPA2 enterprise networks, resolves looking-glass effect glitches, and refines the Persian on-screen keyboard layout. Enhancements include a better overview startup notification and improved keyboard navigation within app folders, along with significant improvements to nested popovers on the Wayland display server.
The GNOME Control Center has also been updated, featuring minor fixes across various settings panels such as Accessibility, Apps, Network, Privacy, Users, and WWAN. GNOME Remote Desktop now handles invalid x224Crq data more gracefully and addresses a file descriptor leak. GNOME Web (Epiphany) 46.3 disables Firefox Sync, ensures new windows open non-incognito by default, and improves application mode behavior in incognito mode, while fixing multiple crash issues. Evince 46.3.1 enhances the detection of non-seekable files, preventing direct loading and improving document handling.
Other notable updates include GNOME Music 46.1, which boasts an improved search function and better handling of problematic image formats, and GNOME Software 46.4, which addresses broken formatting issues in AppStream metadata. GNOME Online Accounts 3.50.4 enables editing of Exchange account details upon re-authentication and ensures TLS certificate error settings are correctly managed.There are many more changes that can be found in the official changelog here.
