Epic Games Store launches on mobile: Fortnite, Fall Guys, and more now available worldwide
Epic Games Store (EGS) has officially launched on mobile devices, now available worldwide on Android and for iPhone users in the EU. This follows Epic Games' earlier announcement to release its digital storefront on iOS and Android this year. The mobile version of EGS is described as the "first-ever game-focused, multi-platform store," extending its reach from macOS and PC to Android and iOS.
Despite a long and complex installation process, attributed to intentionally poor-quality install experiences by Apple and Google, the mobile EGS offers developers the same 88/12 revenue-sharing model as the desktop version. Notably, Fortnite Battle Royale returns to mobile through EGS and AltStore, its first native availability since its removal from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in 2020. Previously, Fortnite was accessible on mobile only via cloud gaming services like Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce NOW
Additionally, Fall Guys and Rocket League Sideswipe are now available for download on Android devices globally and EU iPhones. Tim Sweeney, Founder and CEO of Epic Games, thanked the European Commission for facilitating the iOS launch in the EU, highlighting it as a step towards more competition in the mobile ecosystem.
