DuckDuckGo launches AI Chat for anonymous interaction with popular AI models
DuckDuckGo, the well-known privacy-centric search engine, has unveiled DuckDuckGo AI Chat, a feature that offers users anonymous access to popular AI chatbots. The initial rollout supports Open AI's GPT-3.5 Turbo, Anthropic's Claude 3 Haiku, and two open-source models — Meta Llama 3 and Mistral's Mixtral 8x7B — with plans to add more in the future.
This optional feature is free to use within a daily limit and can be easily switched off. DuckDuckGo emphasizes that all chats are private, anonymized, and not utilized for AI model training. Users can access DuckDuckGo AI Chat directly on their search results page under the Chat tab, or via the !ai and !chat bang shortcuts.
Looking ahead, DuckDuckGo's roadmap includes integrating additional chat models, expanding browser entry points, and potentially introducing a paid plan for higher daily usage limits and more advanced models.
