Google Gemini can now play songs directly from YouTube Music

Google has introduced a YouTube Music extension for its Google Gemini AI chatbot, allowing users to play songs directly from YouTube Music. This feature enhances the chatbot's functionality by enabling users to command Gemini to play specific songs, playlists, or artists. Users can enable the extension through the chatbot or by navigating to Settings Extensions and toggling on the YouTube Music button. Once activated, Gemini can access personal YouTube Music data, including playlists, watch history, and liked songs.

The integration supports various commands, such as "Play music I like" or "Play Hip-Hop music." Users can also use specific prompts like "Find [song name] by [artist name]" or "Search for songs similar to [song name] by [artist name]." However, the YouTube Music integration does not work in Google Messages and only supports English prompts. The extension will update your YouTube Music watch history based on your usage preferences.

On iOS, Gemini displays a title card with the song's details and opens the YouTube Music app to play the song. On Android, the song plays in the background, while on the web, users need to click the title card to open the YouTube Music website and start playing the song.
