YouTube is finally cracking down on third-party apps that enable ad-blocking
YouTube recently declared a crackdown on third-party applications that infringe upon its Terms of Service, specifically those enabling ad-blocking. The company's team clarified that their terms prohibit third-party apps from disabling ads, as it denies creators their due reward for viewership. They further highlighted that ads play a crucial role in supporting creators and allowing billions of users worldwide to access the streaming service.
The YouTube team acknowledged the preference of some users for an ad-free experience, pointing out that this is the rationale behind the YouTube Premium service. Although the announcement did not specify any app by name, it's plausible to presume that third-party YouTube apps such as NewPipe, YouTube ReVanced, Piped, and others might be implicated.
YouTube permits third-party apps to use its API, provided they adhere to the API Terms of Service. The company has warned that any app found violating these terms will face “appropriate action” as a measure to safeguard the platform, its creators, and viewers.

It's sad to see Revanced dead. I hope they figure out which old version to use so they can continue to have a nicer and faster YouTube client. In the meantime, NewPipe and it forks appears to work still on my devices, so I'll use that. Fun fact : YouTube Music Revanced has no issues whatsover.
🤫 LibreTube doesn't work for me, also I noticed that the old patches of YT Music still work, but not for YT "the normal".
(And there are more ways to block YT ads on smartphones... e.g. "🥝/🦊 + ublock + desktop site")
Because blocking ads on a desktop computer is much easier using network traffic blocking: DNS (pi-hole), with a firewall, or simply by using ad-blocking extensions (Chromium/Firefox).
Those pricks at Google make me sick, pretending they care about content creators. They have no problem censoring, demonetizing, or otherwise screwing over content creators when it suits them. The only reason they are worried about not being able to shove ads in people's faces is that it hurts THEIR bottom line.
Well... back when they started this crap I cleaned all my subs and got back to re-sub to creators with really great content (for me of course) noted down alternative channels of those creators if they have one. So I'm ready just quit it... That was when I realized how much damn time YT eats... would be lovely to have that time back and mind the books I'm having piled up, as well :)
Google is changing the entire YouTube infrastructure just by the existence and use of these applications: LibreTube, NewPipe, Piped, ReVanced.
Kudos to these developers for putting their time and effort into making better applications than YouTube.

Just try and stop us. It'll always be a cat and mouse game. Killing adblockers & the ability to quickly update extensions in Chrome only further pushes me from wanting to use the Google ecosystem.
