Vivaldi 6.7 introduces tab hibernation, feed auto-detection, and enhanced data portability
Vivaldi, the widely-used web browser, has announced the release of its 6.7 version, introducing several new features such as a memory saver, feed auto-detection, and more.
The Memory Saver is designed to reduce memory usage by automatically hibernating tabs that have not been accessed for some time. Users can still opt to manually hibernate workspaces or grouped tabs if they prefer. When the Memory Saver feature is active, the browser deactivates inactive tabs, facilitating smoother operation of active tabs, particularly those used for gaming or streaming.
Vivaldi 6.7 also introduces a Feed Reader that enables users to discover more feeds on popular sites such as Reddit, GitHub, and YouTube, which often make their feeds difficult to locate. Users can now follow subreddits and other users on Reddit, along with tracking repository releases and commits on GitHub. Vivaldi detects and displays the Follow Feed button in the address field on supported websites, simplifying the process of keeping up with updates on these platforms.
The new version also enhances data portability and streamlines the process of creating a new workspace. Users can now export passwords, feeds, bookmarks, speed dials, reading lists, notes, logins, and more.
For macOS users, Vivaldi 6.7 now supports SplitView, a feature that allows users to tile several apps on one screen. On other operating systems, users have the option to use the built-in Tab Tiling feature to view two or more tabs side by side.
