Brave launches Leo, its AI Assistant, built into the Brave Browser app for iOS users
Brave has expanded the availability of its AI assistant, Brave Leo, to iPhone and iPad users, following its previous release on Android and desktop. Leo's capabilities include answering questions, summarizing pages, generating content, and more, simialr to other AI mobile assistans like Opera Aria or the newest Arc Search
The iOS version of Leo comes with a unique voice-to-text feature, enabling users to convert spoken words into text for easier interaction with the AI assistant. Leo's functionalities are wide-ranging, from summarizing pages and videos, creating detailed reports, translating or rewriting content, to transcribing audio or video, and even coding.
Brave Leo also integrates access to other language models including Mixtral 8x7B, Anthropic’s Claude Instant, and Meta’s Llama 2 13B. Mixtral 8x7B is the default language model, but users can select other models or upgrade to Leo Premium for higher rate limits at $14.99 per month. Leo is available in the updated 1.63 version of the Brave browser for iOS users. It's an opt-in feature, allowing users to enable or disable it based on their preference.
I like Leo, especially the ability to summarize a page, but the free version always says the pages are "too long". I would like to upgrade, but $15/month is too much when many of these models are available elsewhere. If they had a cheaper plan I would probably upgrade but there are plenty of summarizing bots on Poe for example. Not worth $15/month to save me from copying the URL to there.
