X launches new 'Articles' feature for long-form content, available to premium+ subscribers
X has just launched a new feature called "Articles" for Premium+ subscribers and Verified Organizations, allowing them to publish long-form content with a simple text-editing interface that supports embedded media and text formatting, kinda similar to other alternatives like Substack. Users can also incorporate a variety of media types in their Articles, including images, videos, GIFs, posts, and links.
Articles provide extensive text formatting options such as headings, subheadings, bold, italics, strikethrough, indentation, numerical, and bulleted lists. The character limit for Articles is also much higher than the 25,000-character limit for the "longer posts" feature, although the exact number has not been confirmed yet, but it would certainly be above 100K characters. After publishing, Articles will appear on the author's profile under a dedicated tab and in their followers' timelines like any regular post, but distinguished by a unique icon and layout, offering a more organized format for long-form content compared to the usually inconvenient X's long-threads.
To publish an Article, premium users can navigate to the Articles tab, click "Write," draft their content, and click "Publish." Once published, the Articles are available to all X users, subject to the audience controls chosen by the author.
