Epic Games Store to end support for older Windows versions from June 2024

The Epic Games Store has announced that it will cease support for older Windows operating systems, including Windows 7, Windows 8, 8.1, and 32-bit versions of Windows 10, starting June 2024. Users of these older systems will not receive updates or security patches from Epic Games Store after June 2024, exposing them to potential security risks.

Post-June 2024, Epic Games Store will only support 64-bit versions of Windows 10 and the newer Windows 11, highlighting the need to adopt advanced architectures for better performance and security. For macOS users, the store will remain compatible, supporting macOS 10.13 or higher.

The announcement allows users ample time to prepare for the transition and encourages them to upgrade to supported operating systems for uninterrupted access to the Epic Games Store. The company will not provide support or assistance for unsupported Windows versions post-June 2024, and users may experience decreased performance or functionality over time. Steam, the biggest competitor to the Epic Games Store, also ended support for pre-Windows 10 versions on January 1, 2024.

Use Steam + Linux = Avoid this nonsense. Avoid spending more money on a new OS or new device just so you can use a game store/client. That simple.
