Debian 12.5 update has been released with security fixes and package upgrades
The Debian project has recently released the fifth update of its stable Linux distribution, Debian 12 “Bookworm”. This point release primarily addresses security issues and makes a few critical adjustments. Users can effortlessly update their packages to the latest versions via any current Debian mirror.
The 12.5 update includes numerous packages such as FileZilla and Dropbear, which have been updated to mitigate the “terrapin attack”. Other packages that have been updated include Calibre, fish, MariaDB, PipeWire, QEMU, systemd, Postfix, Nextcloud Desktop, Pluma, and many more.
The Linux Kernel has been updated to align with the new upstream stable release. In addition, the Apktool has been enhanced to prevent arbitrary file writes with malicious resource names, and cryptsetup now supports compressed kernel modules.
For those still using Debian 11 “Bullseye”, now referred to as 'oldstable', an update to version 11.9 has been released, offering numerous bug fixes and security enhancements.
