Brave Wallet adds Native SegWit Bitcoin support in latest update of Brave
Brave Wallet now includes native SegWit Bitcoin account support in the lastest Brave 1.63 version. This feature enhances users' experience by reducing transaction fees and improving error detection. The Native SegWit support complements the existing account types supported by Brave Wallet, including Legacy, Nested Segwit, and Taproot accounts, ensuring compatibility with ohter third-party wallets.
To use the new Native SegWit support, users should update their Brave browser on their PC, go to Brave Wallet, access the menu in the top right corner, and select "Create account." They can then choose a Bitcoin wallet.
James Mudgett, VP of Web3 Products at Brave, emphasizes the company’s commitment to security and privacy, positioning Brave Wallet as a user-centric software wallet in the growing Bitcoin ecosystem. Future plans for the wallet include supporting shielded Zcash transactions and expanding to include more Bitcoin account types, facilitating storage for BRC-20 tokens and Ordinals.
