Brave partners with Unstoppable Domains to launch on-chain .brave domain names
Brave has launched its own on-chain .brave
top-level domain, created in partnership with Unstoppable Domains. The .brave
domain is now available to Brave users and is designed to simplify digital identity management, cryptocurrency transactions, and navigation across the Web3 ecosystem.
Building on this launch, .brave
domains are minted on the Polygon blockchain. These names are compatible across several major networks, including Base, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Sonic, and others, bringing broad interoperability benefits. While these domains are available immediately, they will be directly resolvable within the Brave browser and Brave Wallet starting with version 1.81. This version is targeted for public release on August 5th, 2025.
These domains can be used for easier cryptocurrency payments, as .brave
replaces complex crypto wallet addresses with simple, human-readable names. Users can also host censorship-resistant websites on IPFS, accessible from within the Brave browser without traditional hosting fees. Through Unstoppable Domains, personalized .brave
domains also enable access to a range of decentralized tools for Web3 functionality.
In addition, users can establish verifiable, on-chain identities via UD.me to showcase digital assets, wallet connections, and public credentials within the Brave community.

I do like and use the Brave browser, as it's open source, but am not sure how to take this news. I never really cared for the crypto world and this push makes me uneasy. However, their ongoing efforts the decentralise the web and advocate privacy is what keeps me using the browser.
