Brave updates its AI assistant Leo with Mixtral support and introduces Brave News redesign
Brave has updated its AI browser assistant, Brave Leo, to version 1.62, prioritizing privacy protection. The update swaps Leo's default Language Model (LLM) to the open-source Mixtral 8x7B from Mistral AI, enhancing Leo's response to complex prompts. The update also includes multi-language support, accommodating English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish, and a new feature for code generation to assist users with programming-related queries.
Premium users of Leo can choose between Anthropic's Claude Instant or Meta's Llama 2 models. Additionally, Premium users get additional perks like higher rate limits, priority queuing, and early access to new features, while guaranteeing private, anonymous, and secure interactions for all users. Brave is also planning to bring Leo to iOS and Android soon.
In addition to the new changes in Leo, Brave News, the privacy-focused news aggregator, is also being revamped for a better user experience. The update will offer a simplified interface, improved personalization, content filters for easier navigation, and a "For you" section featuring stories based on user interests and browsing history. The "Customize cards" feature will suggest new publishers and channels based on user preferences, leading to a more personalized news feed, all while maintaining user privacy.
