Privacy-focused Mullvad VPN partners with Tailscale to extend server access to customers
Mullvad, the VPN company renowned for its privacy and security features, has recently announced a partnership with Tailscale, a zero config VPN. This collaboration will make Mullvad's extensive global network of VPN servers accessible to Tailscale customers.
Mullvad VPN has earned its reputation in the industry for its strict privacy policies. The company does not log or monitor user activity, and it uses a unique account number system for subscriptions. This means personal data is not linked to user accounts, providing an additional layer of privacy.
Despite both being VPN-related entities, Mullvad and Tailscale have distinct functionalities. Mullvad offers a multitude of VPN servers that ensure user anonymity. In contrast, Tailscale focuses on resolving connectivity issues by creating a personal private internet, referred to as a 'tailnet'.
The partnership between Mullvad and Tailscale will enable users to utilize both services simultaneously through the Tailscale app. However, this feature will not be available in the Mullvad VPN app.
This collaboration will allow Tailscale customers to use Mullvad's WireGuard VPN servers as 'exit nodes'. Consequently, while connected to Tailscale, users can access their devices across Tailscale's mesh network and simultaneously connect outbound through Mullvad VPN WireGuard servers located anywhere.
