Google Messages set to introduce multi-device RCS chat functionality, similar to WhatsApp
Google is set to enhance the functionality of its Google Messages app, making it easier for users to send and receive RCS chats/messages across multiple devices. This feature is currently being developed in the latest beta version of Google Messages, mirroring functionalities seen in other messaging apps such as WhatsApp.
The new feature will utilize users' phone numbers, a logical step as RCS chats are inherently linked to a verified phone number. Once Google activates this multi-device feature, users will be able to operate Google Messages on alternative devices, such as a secondary phone or Android tablet, without the need to physically transfer their primary SIM card.
The timeline for the introduction of this feature remains uncertain. However, updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
