Artifact introduces a user posting feature, becoming an alternative to platforms like X

Artifact, the AI-driven news app created by Instagram co-founders, has introduced a significant new feature that allows users to create and distribute posts. Previously, Artifact served as a news aggregator, gathering articles and links from various online sources. However, this new feature, which allows users to create posts directly within the app, along with other recently implemented features such as 'Links' (which function as a kind of visual pinboard similar to Pinterest) or the ability to follow individual writers, transforms the platform into an alternative more akin to X or Threads than other typical news feed readers like Feedly or Flipboard.

The new posts feature can include a title, text, and images, enhancing the versatility and dynamism of the shared publications. Each post will have its own unique URL, making it easier to share on different apps and services, and somewhat reminiscent of what we've seen in Substack Notes.

Robby Stein of Artifact confirmed that the new posting feature will be available in the latest versions of both iOS and Android apps. Day by day, the platform continues to shape itself as a great alternative to a multitude of different services, currently being a combination of a news reader / microblogging social network, and even social bookmarking tools. All of this is accompanied by AI-driven features like article summaries, text-to-speech functionality, clickbait flags, and their AI-powered recommendation algorithm.
