Figma introduces Jambot, an AI assistant widget for its whiteboard platform, FigJam

Figma has launched Jambot, an AI assistant, into its online whiteboard software, FigJam. Powered by ChatGPT, Jambot is available as an open-beta widget and is designed to assist with tasks such as brainstorming, creating visual mind maps, providing quick answers, and content rewriting. This will help users to boost productivity within FigJam by using Jambot to initiate first drafts, and then take it from there. This goes hand in hand with the recent changes introduced to the design suite, such as the introduction of Custom Color Palettes in FigJam at the beginning of this month, and the recent enhancements to Figma's DevMode, with over 200 new features.

The design startup, which Adobe is set to acquire for $20 billion (although this is yet to be seen, in light of the concerns that regulatory bodies around the world have already expressed), has previously expressed plans to incorporate AI features into its platform. The acquisition of the design AI startup, Diagram, earlier this year, and the recent acquisition of Clover Notes, a creative whiteboarding and daily planner tool, are significant steps in this direction.

Noah Levin, VP of Product Design at Figma, views AI as a crucial element of team collaboration within the platform. He believes AI will aid in generating early ideas, speeding up the design phase, and assisting developers in understanding context for improved production code.
