Twitter announces TweetDeck will only be available to Verified users after 30 days
A few hours after TweetDeck encountered some issues, Twitter has announced that X Pro, the Twitter client optimized for multi-accounts and column-based chronological feeds, will join the paid Twitter Blue package.
In a tweet, Twitter Support stated that they've launched a new and improved version of TweetDeck. However, users must be Verified within 30 days to access this new TweetDeck. This means that only Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to use it.
As part of this update, TweetDeck offers enhanced functionality and incorporates more of what you see on Twitter. New features include a full Tweet composer, advanced search features, Spaces, video docking, polls, new column types, and more. Twitter is also introducing Decks—a new way to group columns into workspaces.
Our take: TweetDeck has been a really great desktop Twitter client for years, and we're using it at AlternativeTo, but it seems that Twitter is pushing more and more to force users to pay for the Twitter Blue subscription. It remains to see whether TweetDeck users will stop using this client, or will choose to pay for the Twitter Blue subscription.
