TikTok introduces Passkey login support for iOS devices

TikTok has introduced passkey login support for iOS devices, offering a more secure login method. The passkey standard developed by the FIDO Alliance and the World Wide Web Consortium, is now available on iOS devices, including iPadOS and macOS Ventura. This feature allows users to sign into apps and websites using biometric data such as fingerprints, face scans, or screen lock PINs. This comes shortly after Apple introduced support for Passkeys in the latest beta versions of their operating systems.

On iOS and Mac devices, passkeys sync with iCloud Keychain, providing enhanced security and authentication with Face ID or Touch ID. The biometric data used for passkey authentication stays on the user's device, ensuring privacy and preventing apps from accessing or processing it. Users must turn on two-factor authentication for their Apple ID to enable passkey login.

Passkeys provide robust protection against online attacks like phishing and offer more security than SMS one-time codes, and TikTok plans to roll out the security measure in various regions, starting with Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America, with further expansion expected. Users can activate passkey login on TikTok through the "Settings and privacy" option in their Profile.
