Plexamp music player now free for everyone: offers high-quality audio, unique features, and premium subscription options
Plexamp, a music player created by Plex Labs division, is now available free of charge. The player, which was first launched in 2017 as a subscription-only service, offers features such as visualizations, programming mixes, and a ChatGPT -powered "Sonic Sage" playlist generator. It supports high-quality audio playback from personal libraries and the TIDAL music streaming service, and includes features like gapless playback, loudness leveling, and smooth track transitions.
The app's Library Radio feature helps users rediscover their music, and mood-based playlists provide a variety of options. Other unique features include Decade Radio and Time Travel Radio, which allow users to play music from specific decades or explore older tracks in their libraries. However, some advanced features, including the Sonic Sage playlist builder, downloads, and artist and album mix builders, are only available to paying subscribers.
To access these premium features, users need a Plex Pass subscription, costing $4.99 per month. This subscription also includes enhancements such as DVR recording of Live TV, the ability to skip movie and TV show credits and intros, premium music features, and other advanced technical features.
