Apple's Shazam update extends music recognition to TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram

Apple has updated its Shazam app to extend its music recognition feature to include popular apps like TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. The new version, 15.36, available for free on the App Store, enables users to identify music playing on these platforms. To use this, users need to open Shazam, tap the blue button, and return to the previously used app, allowing the song recognition to run in the background. Once a song is identified, it can be automatically added to the user's Shazam playlist.

Besides the new tagging feature, Shazam also keeps a record of previously tagged songs, granting users easy access to their tagging history. This, along with the ability to manage the Shazam playlist, enhances the utility of the standalone Shazam app.

The update further incorporates music recognition into the Control Center on iOS devices for quick access to song tagging. This integration, along with the broader song recognition feature, improves the music discovery and listening experience for Apple users. If you're looking for alternatives to Shazam with similar features, you might be interested in checking out SoundHound, Musixmatch (with much better lyric synchronization than Shazam), or AHA Music if you're on a PC.
