SparkyLinux 7.2 released with Linux Kernel 6.1 LTS and expanded ARM support

SparkyLinux, the Debian-based Linux distribution known for its speed and customizability, has launched its 7.2 version. This release is a quarterly updated point version of the stable Sparky 7 “Orion Belt” line, which is fully compatible with Debian 12 “Bookworm”.

The latest version, SparkyLinux 7.2, operates with the Linux kernel 6.1 LTS. It provides a variety of desktop environments for users to choose from, including LXQt 1.2.0, KDE Plasma 5.27.5, Mate 1.26, Xfce 4.18, and Openbox 3.6.1.

In terms of software, Sparky Linux 7.2 comes equipped with LibreOffice 7.4.7, Firefox ESR 115.5, Thunderbird 115.5.0, VLC 3.0.20, Calamares 3.2.61, and Exaile 4.1.3.

In a significant development, Sparky 7.2 has expanded its support to include ARMHF and ARM64 platforms, with ready-to-use images available for these architectures.
