Microsoft to End Support for Office Browser Extension on Chrome and Edge by January 2024

Microsoft has declared it will cease support for its Microsoft 365 Copilot browser extension on Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge after January 15, 2024. The extension, originally known as the Office browser extension, is a free tool that enables users to access Microsoft 365 applications and documents on the web. Post the aforementioned date, the extension will not receive security updates, non-security updates, bug fixes, or technical assistance.

Additionally, Microsoft will withdraw the Microsoft 365 browser extension from the Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome web stores. Users who wish to use the extension should download it before the discontinuation date as it will be unavailable in the web stores thereafter. Microsoft has not announced a substitute for the extension yet.
