EEA Windows users can now uninstall Edge, Bing, and most pre-installed apps, thanks to DMA
Microsoft is modifying Windows 11 to meet the requirements of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in the European Economic Area (EEA). These changes will allow users in the EEA to uninstall Microsoft Edge, disable Bing Search in the start menu, and deactivate Microsoft News and ads feed in the Widgets Board while retaining widget functionality.
Windows 11 users in the EEA will also be able to uninstall most pre-installed apps, excluding system apps like File Explorer and Phone Link. The operating system will remember users' default settings such as web browsers and email clients. Furthermore, users will have the option to sync Windows with a Microsoft account, giving them greater control over data syncing.
These changes will be tested in the Insider Beta Channel for Windows 11 in the upcoming weeks, aiming for general availability early next year. Microsoft aims to be fully DMA compliant by March 6th, 2024. Similar changes are expected for Windows 10 by the deadline. The DMA also applies to other tech giants including Google and Apple, with the goal of promoting user choice and fair competition on online platforms.

I can live with file explorer but I can't wait wipe the other MS crap out of one device I have, that is left with Win10. Which will get Linux once Win10 is no longer supported.
If someone makes the list with all the MS crap I'll be delighted to take a look and remove as much of it as I can, cause let's face it everyone is already probably using better alternatives anyway... too bad it's march 6th 2024 for win10 though -_-
Quite the good news though ^^
I don't think File Explorer will be uninstable. It's core part of Windows. Even Taskbar itself is a functional because of File Explorer
Microsoft who needs EEA to remembers them that users should be able do uninstall a program they doesn't want, so funny
Now the real question is, how will we use the EEA version of windows outside of the EEA? I've never had a desire to use a VPN befreo, but getting rid of Edge would be worth the monthly fee. XD
This was hilarious... but after that I thought how valid it is indeed xD
