
Broadcom completes $69 billion acquisition of VMware after China approval
Broadcom, a leading provider of semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions, has completed its acquisition of VMware, a renowned company with popular products such as VMware Workstation Pro, VMware Workstation Player, and VMware Fusion, for a total of $69 billion.
The acquisition process, which took an unexpectedly lengthy 18 months, finally concluded following approval from China.
Broadcom has stated that its primary goal moving forward is to assist enterprise customers in creating and modernizing their private and hybrid cloud environments. To achieve this, Broadcom plans to invest heavily in VMware Cloud Foundation, the software stack that forms the bedrock of private and hybrid cloud infrastructures.
In addition to Broadcom's investment in VMware Cloud Foundation, VMware will be expanding its services catalog on top of VMware Cloud Foundation to further modernize and optimize cloud environments. Specific details about these new services are yet to be disclosed.
