YouTube starts its crackdown on ad blockers, forcing users to switch to Premium
Just in August, we shared that YouTube had started pushing warning messages to certain users with AdBlockers. And now with the latest series of updates, we have learned that the internet's largest video platform has officially initiated its crackdown against ad blockers for all users with plugins like Adblock Plus or AdGuard installed. The platform is encouraging users to disable these privacy tools and providing an alternative: subscribing to YouTube Premium for $13.99.
YouTube started testing this process in June, displaying a pop-up message when ad blockers are detected, stating that they are not permitted and encouraging users to opt for YouTube Premium. Google, YouTube's parent company, relies heavily on advertising, which is why it's pushing to limit ad blockers, a move that aligns with YouTube's terms of service.
If users continue to use ad blockers despite warnings to disable them, they may find their video playback disabled. YouTube uses technology to detect ad blockers and prompt users to disable them, making it difficult to avoid these restrictions. Users who wish to use YouTube ad-free can consider ad blocker allowlisting, using a different browser without ad-blocking (in case you're using Brave or something similar) , or subscribing to their premium service.

Saw a good option to workaround it with this one recently:
AdNauseam
...and I'll be sure to try it. After I check which of my subs are available on other platforms.
I love that YouTube pretends that they need ads on ALL videos because it helps content creators.........it doesn't. Google does what lines their pockets, always have, always will.
Screwtube doesn't give a rat's arse about it's content creators. Especially the little guy, and even more so, the ones who engage in "wrong think".
If ad revenue was to support content creators then companies like Patreon wouldn't need to exist for the content creators under 100s or thousands of subcribers. As for "wrong think" creators I am pretty sure they have all been blocked from the platform at this point.
Maybe YouTube should give add a feature to keep ads silent with a button to unmute if someone wants to. This way people like me will be willing to disable their ad blockers (unless some $h**ty ads start popping up. The last time it happened, I switched to Vanced YT). I don't like sudden change in volume to damage my eardrums. I wish YouTube add this to their mobile apps too (there are third-party apps which do, but not with 100% perfection).
Enforcing whitelisting adblockers while removing Premium Lite... what a big brain move, YouTube.
it is the end... yt premium is way expensive
yeah
yup
You still can block the anti-adblock with uBO, just saying
It is not the end yet friend. Try these:
