Adobe Lightroom mobile introduces ultra HDR image editing for Android devices
Adobe has introduced Ultra HDR image editing support for the mobile version of Adobe Lightroom for Android. Ultra HDR offers a wider range of light and dark tones, emulating human vision and producing brighter whites on compatible HDR displays. Images edited with Ultra HDR are saved in standard JPEG format, ensuring compatibility with standard dynamic range (SDR) displays.
Users can activate HDR photo import in the app's settings. When users edit supported images, an HDR icon appears, displaying an HDR histogram with additional highlights. Lightroom's HDR editing feature allows for adjustments and provides a preview option for SDR displays. This is crucial as most images are viewed on devices without HDR support.
This feature is compatible with Google Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7A devices and presumably Pixel 8 running Android 14.
