WhatsApp Messenger preparing to increase video and audio call participant limit
Globally popular messaging service WhatsApp is getting support for bigger audio and video calls within the next few weeks according to data found in the app’s iOS and Android beta versions.
The information was discovered by WABetaInfo when analyzing data strings found in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android and iOS. Though the exact number of users that can participate in the increased audio and video call limit was not listed, it will certainly be greater than 4 (the current limit) or 5 people.
Additionally, a new header during calls will show that they are encrypted end-to-end. This will ensure that users understand their communications are private and secure.
This new increased call limit on the end-to-end encrypted service comes at a time that can capitalize on Zoom’s current privacy and security controversies while also providing both personal and business users another potential alternative for the currently maligned service.
No exact date can be pinpointed for when the new increased call limit will go live, but its presence in the latest beta release of the app for both major mobile OSes hints that it’s coming much sooner rather than later.
