It's basically a much-needed UI/UX upgrade for Pure Data, with audio plugin capabilities baked in.

It's like a ramped up version of Kakoune, an NVim config on steroids. Amazing defaults which is so helpful when using it across systems. Plus it's just fast, with all its bundled features it doesn't slow down.

    Reviewed DISTRHO Cardinal

Cardinal is amazing. It's a totally free and overpowered modular synth built from VCV Rack that lacks the former's commercial extensibility but adds a level of usability (no internet connectivity or login required) encased in a beautiful dark theme. Users wanting more advanced commercial modules will find VCV Rack the best fit but Cardinal provides a free and still immensely enjoyable experience for those not needing that extensibility or online connectivity.

The platform is just amazing. It's a no-code/low-code hybrid with a beautiful interface that makes it easy to build apps while still allowing for powerful custom components. It's clearly designed for use with Google Firebase but the ability to communicate through API calls makes it extensible beyond that. It would be nice if the database functionality was directly integrated like bubble.io as database configuration can be tedious. On the upside, it can directly publish mobile apps to the app...

Extremely powerful and catered to getting work done. Drag an image (.png) made with Stable Diffusion onto the canvas and it automatically loads the node configuration used to create it. So you can store projects as images, simply genius.

The only mobile app capable of creating AI art natively, no external service required. And it's completely free! It's as intuitive as desktop solutions like InvokeAI and A1111 but it's simplified enough to work on mobile. It can take a bit longer than a PC with high end video card but it's still fast enough and can churn out high quality, high resolution images within a few minutes.

Besides being open sourced and easily checked for privacy and security issues, And Bible features layout customization that's well suited for interlinear and parallel study and automatic scrolling when navigating multiple Bible versions. The app provides tons of free and open resources that, once downloaded, are totally accessible offline. Best of all, it's ad-free, cost-free and doesn't even require signup.

0 A.D. has all the elements that made Age of Empires 2 unforgettable but it also adds its own brilliant touches while giving us that much-needed boost into the modern era with 3D graphics and controls that just work. Different from AoE 2, it loads blazing fast and everything about it is speedy.

I'm rating it 5 stars. While it may not be perfect especially since some elements are still incomplete, I've learned to stick to the completed civilizations, maps and other elements so for me,...

  • REAPER icon

Reaper is one of the fastest, most stable and configurable digital audio workstations around. When it launched, it worked like a 1:1 clone of Sony Acid (now Magix Acid) but it developed quickly and now compares with big DAWs like Cubase and Pro Tools.

    A few notable features:

    • Loads super fast.
    • Recognized for its stability.
    • Development is always active and new features are added consistently.
    • Possibly the most configurable DAW; it can even be customized to work like many other...

All the style and sonic flare of the original Pac Man but in an endlessly scrolling maze that just works. This thing's as brilliantly conceived as the original and easily as fun as the likes of Crossy Road.

Lifetime upgrades. No other DAW has that. Pay once, get awesome new features as they're released for years to come. It's worth the price even for those who use other DAWs because of the sheer number of tools included from the vocoder and seriously overpowered audio editor with top notch noise removal, to the variety of highly configurable delays and distortions. Plus you get excellent MIDI and outboard gear support and this best-in-class music visualizer called ZGameEditor that easily...

Runs natively on almost every device/OS. It's super fast at everything. The UI is designed for work. If something's in the way, move it so you can focus on composition, routing, tweaking sounds, etc. Huge variety of modules and presets helps you get ideas out fast while the modular design lets you create any type of sound from scratch. Every visualizer you could ever need from spectrum analyzers to oscilloscopes is built in.

Probably the only downside for many people will be the...

Looks awesome, works offline, no ads. It's very easy to use, just drag and drop a file onto it. While chord analysis might not always be perfect, it's very close and very helpful, even including guitar fingering. All- around outstanding software, well worth the money it once costed.

Probably the best sounding modular synth on the free market. In many cases, it sounds exactly like the Eurorack hardware it was made to emulate.

    Comparison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uhsi0aN0ew

The GUI is perfect. The randomize tool is great for inspiration. The essentials are all free while access to more custom premium modules is just a click away. Beautiful all around.

There's some serious power packed in this tiny DAW. A wide range of general purpose samples like drums, bass, guitar and piano cover common needs while a nice selection of synths cover the electronic spectrum. Then there's a highly configurable modular synth for more custom sounds, effects and composition needs like arpeggios. It's a fully-fledged DAW that bundles a complete studio in a fast app that works great on mobile as well as desktop. It also works flawlessly through WINE on...

I've used Cloud9 extensively over the past few years for various open source projects. It's been completely reliable and substantially faster than similar services I've tried. As a bonus, it feels like Sublime Text but on the web, the only thing it's missing is a minimap.

All in all, this is one great service especially for open-source stuff.
