Zypper Alternatives
Zypper is described as 'command line package manager for openSUSE which makes use of libzypp. Zypper provides functions like repository access, dependency solving, package installation, etc' and is a Package Manager in the Development category. There are four alternatives to Zypper for Linux, openSUSE and SUSE Linux Enterprise. The best alternative is Advanced Package Tool, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like Zypper are aptitude (Free, Open Source), YUM Package Manager (Free, Open Source) and YaST (Free, Open Source).
- Apt (for Advanced Package Tool) is a set of core tools inside Debian. The user interface application for Apt is aptitude.
- Terminal-based apt frontend.
- Yum is an automatic updater and package installer/remover for rpm systems. It automatically computes dependencies and figures out what things should occur to install packages. It makes it easier to maintain groups of machines without having to manually update each one using rpm.No screenshots yet
