Alternatives to YouTube for Self-hosting with any license

  • PeerTube

Federated (ActivityPub) video streaming platform using P2P (BitTorrent) directly in the web browser with WebTorrent and Angular.

    • Peertube is federated, which means anyone with the know-how can host their own instance of peertube where they can upload videos to, and anyone on another peertube instance can find their server/account and view their videos. For an example of a federated service already in use, look no further than Email. swedneckJul 2018 • 25 agrees and 4 disagrees Disagree   Agree

  • IPFSTube

IPFSTube is a player / uploader for videos , stored in the distributed network I.P.F.S.

    • It's not a good alternative to YouTube because the idea is upload a video, get a link and share it. That's it. It doesn't have a interface that you can search for videos and etc. Basically, it doesn't have the "social network" that YouTube has. Guest • Jan 2019 • 8 agrees and 0 disagrees Disagree   Agree
