PeerTube is a free, decentralized and federated video platform developed as an alternative to other platforms that centralize our data and attention, such as YouTube, Dailymotion or Vimeo.
PeerTube vs YouTube opinions
Sandro_LinuxPeertube gives you more control and more privacy and allows you to control your own videos if you want to or use a public instance.
sedetiIt doesn't have ads,it's decentralized, no idiotic copyright system and no data stealing
It does not have very many videos on it at all! I searched Minecraft and multiple other subjects and came up empty!
abigailjordanI think It doesn't have ads!
Bringing power back to the people. PeerTubw ftw!
PietrosmusDecentralized video-streaming, not exactly like youtube, as you have to find the content creators instances on your own, but definitely a good alternative.
DouzePeerTube is the open-source technology that links together independent instances on which people freely host and post videos. Find an instance that suits you or create your own, and join the federated PeerTube community !

MediaGoblin is a free software media publishing platform that anyone can run. You can think of it as a decentralized alternative to Flickr, YouTube, SoundCloud, etc.
MediaGoblin vs YouTube opinions
It is a free/libre software that respects your freedom and the freedom of your personal data.
MediaGoblin is an open source project than can be hosted on any server. It is decentralized but a federation connects all servers between them. And they don't use your data like YouYube/Google.
Poor in content, unused, not immediately clear, important structural difference that are not obvious.
Clueless how it works and it would not upload my video when I tried the demo so there was no way to figure it out.
I should just be able to logon and go you can't do that with this platform.

IPFSTube is a player and uploader for videos, stored on the distributed IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) network.
IPFSTube vs YouTube opinions
It's not a good alternative to YouTube because the idea is upload a video, get a link and share it. That's it. It doesn't have a interface that you can search for videos and etc. Basically, it doesn't have the "social network" that YouTube has.

An alternative YouTube frontend which is efficient by design.
Piped vs YouTube opinions
RemovedUserIf you want to watch YouTube content but don't like ads and Google's invasive data collection, you should definitely try Piped. It's super fast (faster than Invidious in my experience) and the Preferences allow users to enable SponsorBlock, an open-source crowdsourced platform that skips sponsored segments automatically, so that you never have to hear "this video is sponsored by RandomVPN" ever again. It's highly customizable, very similar to NewPipe.
It's much nicer than Invidious. Piped is not a full YouTube alternative like LBRY, but rather a frontend that allows you to watch YouTube and only connecting to googleapis.com (not googlevideo.com like Invidious). It also has the craziest ad blocker ever. When you watch a video and they say, now it's time for a word from our sponsor or something like that, it fast forwards to the end of that part. It's insane, I have no idea how they pull that off!
An alternative front-end for YouTube.
ViewTube is an alternative YouTube frontend using the invidio.us API.
Yotter allows you to follow and gather all the content from your favorite Twitter and YouTube accounts in a beautiful feed so you can stay up to date without compromising your privacy at all. Yotter is written with Python and Flask and uses Semantic-UI as its CSS framework.
