Said about Yandex.Search as an alternative
You can find even better stuff on Yandex. Not the most "trendy" results, but good, quality stuff!
Google Search I think it's a good alternative. At least, the company and its main servers are NOT inside the USA. Even Duckduckgo and Startpage are in the US, but Yandex is different. They don't have the NSA!
Startpage Occasionally succeeds in a search where others fail although more generally the results are less comprehensive than for example Bing which is probably the best engine just now. The good thing is Yandex is getting better as time passes

Yandex has an insanely dated feel, not that much accurate results in the US, owned by a Russian company which gives me concerns, and simply not good.
Good alternative to US search engines. I cannot set default language to english and keep russian results appearing.
